Crystal lovers, mineral collectors: this book is for you!!! Fantastic writing and plenty of pictures to make you drool on the crystals they found!
Put on your frontal lamp and start your journey towards the door of the Inca temple, Operation Raspberry, meet beautiful Lucy, the Astro-physician and the naked climber.
You will learn what “Bagdad” means to these mountaineers, and that sardines’ cans seem to be as useful as suntan lotion in certain circumstances.
If your heart starts pounding when you hear the words Quartz, Gwindels, Fadens, Red Fluorites, Scepter, then you will love this book.
It is as much about the amazing crystals than the challenges imposed by Nature, and the people who bring us these marvels.
Christophe Peray is one of these magicians who operates in the French Alps, at the border between Italy and Switzerland.
He is a crystal hunter (or “cristallier” as they are known in France and Switzerland), this rare breed of individuals whose passion is to hang from a rock wall thousands of feet in the air, preferably with icy winds blowing on their face, rocks falling and lightning in the air.
Their love of mountains, unique camaraderie, combined with their competitive nature is geared towards one objective: finding the most exceptional crystal there is.
This book takes a small detour to the Brazilian Amazon diving for gold, and the humid Colombian jungle where the Empewenas Indians teach a young Peray why quartz pebbles are more valuable than gold.
Soon enough you are brought back to rock walls, ice and snow. Expect the unexpected. So, put your phone, microscope and loupe aside, and grab these virtual binoculars to follow Peray in his quest for pockets full of treasures.
This book will lead you to the Fountain of Youth: we all, hikers, collectors and dealers alike, regain the power of being amazed in front of an amazing crystal.
At that special moment, we become children again.
Thank you Mr. Peray!
A word of caution: handle this book with care as this is a private edition and not one of these mass-produced low-cost books

The boring part:
All sales are final, no returns are accepted, no exceptions.
All items are described to the best of our knowledge along with the actual unaltered pictures of the item (photographs often disclose condition far better than words). Pictures are part of the description. If a defect is visible in the images and video, it is considered disclosed to the buyer: please do not purchase the item if they are not up to your standards. All items are sold as is, so ask all questions prior to buying, we will do our best to answer them promptly, and can always send additional pictures, so do not hesitate.
International buyers:
IGNORE the automated prices for shipping and contact us directly. Prices vary significantly from country to country, depending on if you want tracking, insurance or expedited. Contact us and we will give you a quote. We ship internationally regularly (Australia, South Korea, France, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Germany etc...). Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price and are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office prior to buying to determine what these additional costs may be. The shipping time can be delayed by time spent in Customs which is beyond our control. We do not ship to certain countries (Italy, Brazil, Nigeria etc.…) where the post office has a repeated tendency to help themselves in the packages sent, sorry… In case of doubt, check with us prior to buying.
And finally, some important clarifications:
- We cannot be held responsible if your package gets lost in the mail. Should you require insurance for your package, let us know at the time of purchase and we will give you a quote.
- We cannot be held responsible if you did not read the item detailed description or missed something: ask question / additional pictures as needed, we'll be glad to oblige.
- We are not Amazon, it is unlikely that we will ship within the hour of your purchase. We do not have a 'return-as-you-wish' policy because you’ve changed your mind. In the rare cases we decide to accept a return (WE decide), there will be a restocking fee which you will have to formally approve: what it means is you cannot come back afterwards demanding to be reimbursed for that fee. If these terms do not work for you, it’s ok, Etsy is a wonderful platform with plenty of options. Sending you plenty of positive energies!
